MONTHLY MISSION FOCUS
Please share an update on your family. As you probably know, Jeff had open heart surgery on September 18th. He is doing well, but still recovering and somewhat limited on how much physical work he can do. In addition to her ministry duties, Pansy babysits our grandchildren on most days she is available. Judd graduated High School in May and plans to attend Howard College in San Angelo in January. We have 7 grandchildren with whom we really enjoy spending time. The rest of our children are grown. Jamie is to be married in December to Matt Duerstine, Justine is married to Ben Garcia and they have a 7-month-old boy, Abel. Jordan is married to Haylie and they have 3 children, Gideon, Aven and Wrenley. These 3 all live close by in the San Angelo area. Jeffrey lives in Austin and is married to Lila. He has a small business he calls “Ninja Pedals” that he runs from his home. They have 3 girls, Adelaide, Audriana, and Vivian. Jenny is a missionary in South Asia and has been serving with Go Ten Mission for several years now.
Please share an update on your ministry.
About a week ago, we received a semi-load of Christmas gifts from churches and individuals in Illinois. The Midwest Food Bank again donated the use of their semi and the fuel to transport the gifts. We also met a church from the Atlanta, GA area in Memphis, who brought us more than 300 Christmas gifts. As I write this note, hundreds more gifts are being put together. I expect the amount to be a record, with more than 5000 Christmas gifts ready for distribution in Mexico. Our Mexico outreach has expanded to 2 other states, as we plan to deliver about 400 gifts to Acuna, Mexico for delivery to the Saltillo area, some 250 miles inland. We also plan to send Christmas gifts to Bermejillo, Mexico again this year.
This past Wednesday, we loaded our 30’ box trailer behind my pickup, which was also fully loaded. We crossed the border and passed through customs. The cost of duty for crossing the gifts was about $1200.00. We also expect to pay duties at the border in Acuna, next week. We currently have about 4500 gifts in Juarez, ready for distribution in our Christmas Bible Clubs! There are so many churches and individuals involved in this project, that I couldn’t begin to list them all. In Pakistan and Cuba, we also plan to give out thousands of gifts in our Christmas Bible Clubs. It is not practical to ship the gifts, so we buy the materials and put together the gifts with volunteers in each country. We expect the materials and fuel to be in excess of $6000 for these countries. Pray with me that the Lord provides. Most of all, please pray that many children will hear and respond to the gospel message and grow in their faith.
How can we be praying for you?
Keep praying for Jeff’s recovery from open heart surgery. Today, he had surgery to implant a monitor for his heart. Pray for his complete recovery.
Pray for our Christmas Gift Project that will allow thousands of children to hear the gospel.
What is your current support level and do you have any special needs?
Current Support Level: 70%. Roughly $3500 additional is needed monthly to meet the budget.
Urgent need: We are currently needing about $6,000 to fund our Christmas Gift projects in Pakistan and Cuba. We purchase and put together the gifts inside each country. We do not currently have the funding. The Christmas Bible Clubs have the potential to reach thousands of children and their families with the gospel message.
Longer-term need: We have taken on 2 additional missionaries in Mexico this year. One in Guadalupe Victoria and one in Saltillo. We do not have funding or monthly support for either one right now. We are just sending what we have each month. Our goal is to send $400 monthly to each of these missionaries. Both of these men are pastoring churches as well as doing children’s ministry. In Pakistan, we are trying to raise $10,000 to buy a lot in a village to build a church.
Can you share any interesting facts about you, your family, or your ministry that people may not know?
Jeff loves raising animals at the Gospel Ranch. He also has a hobby of going to auctions. He always brings something interesting home. One time he bought a potato chip truck for $200 and drove it home! Pansy: Growing up in a remote Arizona town of 400 people, she only went to the store and got to shop once a month. She loves playing sports and had a record-setting cross-country time that still stands at her High School. She goes on miles-long walks several times a week. Judd was a salutatorian of his high school class of 74 students. He has his own workout room with weight lifting and fitness equipment.
